For a long time now, we have had the same routine in the evening: his dinner, playtime and then bath and bed. Now I'm back at work I'm obviously not able to spend any of the day with him and so I really relish the hour or two in the evening that we have with Little One when we can play, sing, get all the toys out and do silly mummy and daddy dances for him to make him giggle.
I realise now how much I took this playtime in the evening for granted when I was on maternity leave. Now, it is the time of day I look forward to the most. We'll normally have an episode of Peppa Pig on the TV while Little One will sit and take every single toy out of the toy box, only to decide he'd much rather play with mummy's iPhone or the Sky remote. He will pull himself up on the sofa to inspect what other devices he can steal or mischievously crawl off under a table and give us that look that says 'I'm being cheeky but I'm cute so I can get away with it!'.
This hour in the evening is a very ordinary moment in the day, and something we do pretty much every day, but for me, it's become a special hour in the day where the three of us can giggle, play and forget about all our grown up worries and just enjoy being in the company of a happy little boy with not a care in the world. So here's a few little pictures which I've got, showing what we get up to in the evening before Little One's bedtime.

So lovely, and I love the black and white photos. This is one of my favourite times of the day too. x
ReplyDeleteThank you :-) not my best photos but I managed to get some photos while he was in a good mood and fairly calm on these two occasions! It's a lovely time of day, especially when I come in from teaching and he just wants to play with me x
