The Ordinary Moments #7 'Supermarket Sweep'

Well, the weekly trip to the supermarket... love it or hate it, it's one of those jobs that just has to be done. I think I used to take for granted how simple going to the supermarket was pre-baby days. I have attempted a couple of online shops since I've been back at work but on those occasions, it ended up taking me so long that I may as well have driven to the supermarket and back twice!

My solo trips to the supermarket with Little One haven't always been very productive either and I've ended up throwing anything into the trolley just to get round as quickly as possible before he has grown tired of sitting in his little seat in the trolley.

This week daddy came along to Tesco and we decided to make the weekly shop into a bit of a new game, carrying Little One around, letting him pick the items off the shelf and letting him feel the different textures of the packaging. It was actually a very pleasant, fun experience! Little One has developed quite a curious personality, and he was loving going down the aisles, looking at all the different packets and brightly coloured packaging. He was just in his element and it was so sweet watching his little face light up as we pushed him around the store. We even got him out of the trolley and let him practise his walking, daddy holding his hands as he tottered carefully down the aisle.

It is such an ordinary part of our routine, and one which is normally chaotic and stressful. It was lovely that it ended up being a fun little family outing where Little One was developing his curiosity and showing a really cute cheeky side to his personality.

How do you find the weekly food shop? Do you have any tips for how to make the experience more enjoyable? Share any ideas in the comments section below!

  1. Aw so cute, lovely photos. I love it when they are all inquisitive like that. My girls love going to the supermarket and riding in the trolley as the know they will always get a little treat when we are finished! x

    1. It can be quite chaotic, especially if I take him by myself. I might have to use it as an excuse to share a treat with him then! Love that idea! x
