We sometimes get stuck in a rut with our weekend routine, especially on Saturdays when swimming lessons seem to dominate over the whole day. It was nice to have two clear days with no plans and just the three of us. On the rare occasions we do have a clear weekend, we are usually pretty terrible for organising family trips out, and instead end up going to the shops or choosing somewhere local last minute to go to and then hopping in the car. In a strange way, we like this way of doing things and it suits us down to the ground.
Although not an ordinary moment as such, this weekend's last minute plans saw us go on an impromptu late afternoon visit to Eureka in Halifax, West Yorkshire. We weren't sure if it'd all be a bit old for Little One but he really enjoyed looking at the displays and pressing all the interactive buttons. Although not yet walking, he looked so grown up walking around hand in hand with Mr F looking at everything with such awe.
We wanted to make the most of our little weekend together so we also went swimming together. Normally I don't get to go swimming with Little One as Mr F does swimming lessons. It was again a very last minute, hop in the car and go kind of outing, which sums us up completely. The weekend wouldn't be complete without a spot of shopping so we went to Ikea to have a little browse and to look at ideas for my birthday present. The best bit was seeing Little One find a play kitchen which he loved, and also a boy doll which he grabbed and cuddled all the way to the check out. I didn't have the heart to put it back. So we went on a trip all the way to Ikea and all we left with was a boy doll called Peter. Standard. A perfect end to a perfect, if slightly last minute weekend.
Awww he really looks so into the fascinating things! Impromptu trips are always the best =) #TheOrdinaryMoments
ReplyDeleteHe's at that cute age where everything catches his eye and is astounding! For him, seeing bus or a truck driving past is like Christmas come early! Thank you for stopping by to have a read :) x
DeleteAw this is a lovely post and I love those impromptu kind of weekends the best- I love to stay at home and relax, I love to make plans too, but I think the best ones are often when you just do something a little out of the ordinary in the spur of the moment. I have heard really good things about Eureka, I must make a trip there one day! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Katie :) Most weekends we are so busy with our little weekend routine that we don't do much fun stuff, so was lovely just to have two free days and be a bit spontaneous! Eureka is good, especially for toddlers and children (rather than crawlers). If ever you're in Leeds, pop over to Halifax, it's just in the middle of the town x
DeleteI've heard that Eureka is lots of fun! It looks like you had a great time. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a lovely comment. I hope you visit again. #ordinarymoments
