I've mentioned recently how we Little One and I have got stuck in a bit of a rut. He has definitely taken after me in that we are both truly creatures of habit and we always end up doing the same things each day, week in week out. Usually, this consists of going to one of three or four soft play centres in and around our local city. Now we are slowly creeping out of the cold winter months, I am well and truly tired of this winter routine and cannot wait to get outdoors and just do a wider variety of fun things with him.
This past week, it's felt like spring is finally in the air. We spotted the first yellow and purple crocuses and some daffodils have started to appear. Just having a jug of yellow daffodils on the kitchen table does wonders for cheering you up and making you feel spring like.
This past week, we have mostly been going on lovely trips to a local country park. We have wrapped up warm as it's still been a bit chilly, and gone for lots of lovely walks around the lake, to feed the ducks and to have fun on the adventure playground. There's no coffee and cake, but it's so much fun and doesn't cost a penny. We feel so lucky to have such gorgeous places just a 10 minute drive from our house, yet we have hardly been to this country park before. Sometimes it's places that are right under your nose that are the nicest places to go to.
While we love going away (which we don't do very often in all honesty) we are real homebirds and love spending our ordinary moments around our local area. It really is amazing what little adventures you can make when you make the effort to look what there is around. It may only be an ordinary trip down the road for us, but through a toddler's eyes it's a huge adventure- running around a magical lake, feeding giant swans, being chased by a huge raft of crazy ducks and clambering across a wooden drawbridge into a mystical castle.
These moments have been amongst some of my favourite ordinary moments with Little One- I've seen him trying to run for the first time, feed ducks himself for the first time and attempt some really tricky parts of an adventure playground. It has totally been a thousand times better and more exciting than any soft play we have been to, and while there was no coffee or delicious cake to tempt me, we have made so many lovely memories this past week, and I cannot wait to take him for many more moments together over the next few months.
