My parents live in France so I went over for a few days to help out with some things but for the first time ever, I went on my own. I have only ever spent one night away from Little One before so it was really difficult saying bye bye to Little One last Saturday knowing I wouldn't see him until Tuesday.
We plan on coming over more this year, and having lots of fun times and over here with Little One but only when the weather gets better. It was bitterly cold, and doing decorating and chopping up wood aren't the easiest of jobs to do with a toddler in tow. While I have been spending lots of ordinary moments with my own Mummy, Little One has been at home in England with Daddy. They had lovely time doing lots of ordinary things that Little One and I normally do together, and I think it's so nice for them to spend some quality father-son time together. I get to spend all my time with Little One after all so it's only fair that his Daddy should get to do the same.
It sounds like they have been having lots of fun too- playing football in the living room, going for meals at Granny's house, going swimming and even doing the laundry together. Just ordinary things which Little One and I do all the time, but special because he is getting some quality time with Daddy.
And meanwhile, I have been able to spend some quality time with my own Mummy. It's like stepping back in time to when I used to live at home- we have been cooking together, going shopping, decorating, going on lovely walks with our family dog Harvey and making each other lots of hot drinks. Again, things which were just ordinary parts of life when I was growing up, but now it's a real treat for me to spend such quality time with her. She really is the best and she loves looking after me. She even let me curl up in her bed the other night for a cuddle as I wasn't feeling very well.
And while I missed Little One and Mr F terribly, I was really relishing these moments with my own Mummy. It's funny how becoming a mummy yourself makes you appreciate your own Mummy even more.
I took a couple of photos on my iPhone from France and also Mr F and LO sent me a couple of photos to show me what they were up to while I was away.
I loved going on lots of lovely countryside walks with our family dog.
A lot of relaxing in front of the fire with a hot chocolate. I love their woodburner and fireplace. If I could have fitted it in my suitcase, I would have taken it with me ;)
