{The Ordinary Moments 15} #17 'Grandparent's Garden'

We are really lucky in that we only live a 10 minute drive from Mr F's parents and we both feel incredibly fortunate to have them so close by, especially as we know a lot of families who live hundreds of miles from their parents and have to plan visits quite ahead of time. I've mentioned on my blog before that my own parents live in France, and it's not exactly possible to hop on a plane there for the evening. And with that, it makes us both feel even more appreciative to have Mr F's parents so close by. It's so lovely to have that contact with them and be able to drop by spur of the moment.

Over the past couple of months, we have started a bit of a weekly or fortnightly tradition of going over for a play in the garden and dinner on a Wednesday evening. Little One loves it there so much and feels so comfortable with his surroundings, he runs about the house like he owns the place! He has his own little toy corner in the house and a set of special toys which he only gets to use when he is there.

Last Wednesday, with the weather being so lovely, we headed on over there for the evening again. As soon as we pulled into the driveway, Little One couldn't wait to get out of the car seat, run up to the door and ring the door bell. We played in the garden while the sun was still out and it was so lovely and warm. Their garden has a lovely big flat lawn, perfect for little feet to run about on. We sat and had a few drinks as we watched him cleaning pebbles in the fountain and digging up soil with his trowel. He ran about playing football with Daddy and blew giant bubbles with Mummy.

It really was the most perfect, most simple of evenings. Sitting in the sunny garden, cold drink in hand, playing with Little One watching him run around excitedly, with constant giggling and smiling. I really couldn't ask for much more. It's these simple moments which often mean the most, and for these I am truly thankful.

  1. Such lovely photos Amelia! And LO looks so cute in his outfit. I love going over to see my Mum and Dad (although they aren't together but you know what I mean, I love going to see them both in their separate houses) especially on a Summer evening or afternoon when we all go out in the garden. They are the most simple of moments, but the happiest- you can't beat just chilling out with family, it's so important. x

    1. Thank you Katie :) it's definitely one of the highlights of our week at the moment. And it's especially nice if there's a big lawn to run about on. You're so right, it's so important to make time in the week to see family if you're able to xx

  2. Aww, he looks like he's having a great time running around. Your photos are lovely, especially the ones with the bubbles and I think it's great that your little one gets a chance to build such a lovely relationship your partners parents. x

    1. Thanks Carie :) Yes they're pretty keen gardeners (unlike me!). It's lovely to go over. We get to chill out and they get to spend quality time with him. Always a winner :) Thank you for commenting x
