Review: Secret Saviours Anti Stretch Mark System: Part 1

Being pregnant can really take a toll on your body, and one area which can suffer is your belly. At nearly 25 weeks pregnant with baby # 2, I know my belly is going to take a bit of a battering over the next few months, particularly as the skin is already somewhat damaged from when I was pregnant with Little One. Anything which claims to be able to save you from stretch marks has got to be worth a try, so when Secret Saviours got in touch with me recently to ask if I would fancy trying out their Anti Stretch Mark system, I jumped at the chance.

I must admit, I hadn't heard of the product before, but after seeing the products myself and reading through the comprehensive information and statistics on the Secret Saviours website, I am really surprised I hadn't come across it before. I was notoriously terrible for looking after my skin when I was pregnant with Little One, and Mr F had to constantly remind me to put moisturiser on, which I did occasionally. As a result, I did end up with a few marks around my belly button, but most of them faded gradually. Upon receiving the Secret Saviours system, I challenged myself to see if I could stick with it and make it part of my daily routine. I am really keen to try and prevent any further skin damage and stretch marks occurring, so it's got to be worth a try. Even at 25 weeks pregnant, baby still has a lot of growing to do after all!

The Secret Saviours system has been clinically proven to reduce your chance of stretch marks appearing by more than 70%, so if you think this might help you, then read on...

The system includes an anti stretch mark band (available in black or pale pink) which is covered with special rubbery pads (which you can see in the photo above) which hold your skin in place, and even out the stresses and strains across the skin on your tummy. You wear the discrete band under your clothing and it also acts as a back and bump support band. To choose the correct size band for you, simply measure around the widest part of your belly (normally around the belly button). I received the band at around 22 weeks and for my measurements, I came out as a size small. If the band starts to feel too tight and uncomfortable, then you move to the next size up.

The luxurious day gel is applied to the skin in the morning prior to putting on the band. This helps the band to grip to your skin. It smells really luxurious, like an aromatherapy spa treatment and it's packed full of ingredients to help keep skin smooth and supple.

The night cream is applied in the evening after you have taken off the support band. Again, it smells lovely and the formula isn't greasy. It soaked into my skin really quickly and I wasn't left with that horrible tacky skin feeling before bed. For best results, it is suggested that you use this cream every evening, and begin to use it from around weeks 12-14.

Check out that belly for 25 weeks pregnant! I promise it's not a football hiding under the band :)

I do get really tight itchy skin on my belly now my bump is getting increasingly bigger, so I was worried about how my skin will feel with having a tight band on all day. But in all honesty, I am surprised to discover that I don't find it itchy, and in fact, it's very comfortable! I feel like it's supporting my back and keeping my belly cosy during the Autumn months. If you do find it itchy, The Secret Saviours website advises to remove the band for 10 minutes and apply more day gel, 2-3 times throughout the day.

I am looking forward to using the system every day over the next few months, and I will be reporting back in a further blog post to let you know how I get on with using it, and importantly, whether it has prevented any further stretch marks from occurring.

The Secret Saviours anti stretch mark system costs £69.95 and includes 1 x support band, 1 x day gel and 1 x night cream. For more information, please visit the Secret Saviours website.

NB: I was very kindly sent the Anti Stretch Mark system by Secret Saviours for the purposes of this review, but all opinions expressed are my own.

  1. This sounds fab, I remember using a bump band with my little three and felt it helped, they were massive babies though so the stretch was inevitable I think! X

  2. I'm now 24 weeks so preventing stretch marks is definitely something I'm interested in. I was much fitter and more disciplined with my first pregnancy (I done yoga, pilates and cycled), I didn't indulge in sweet tooth and I religiously used Bio-oil from start of 2nd trimester, plus scrub in a shower. Being fitter and more disciplined with food meant I didn't grow so big. That combined with oil and scrub routine saved me from stretch marks - and my skin is prone as I have lots from puberty.
With my second pregnancy I don't have as much time or energy to exercise or be strict on diet, the effects are I'm growing big.
This system sounds interesting, but I'm not sure I like the idea of having the band on all day. And the fact that you need to upgrade to the next size, which is another expense.
I hope it works for you xx
