Review: Bennetts for Babies Skincare Range

Over the past month, we have been trying out some baby skincare products from the brand Bennetts for Babies. As Little One can sometimes get quite dry skin and also a bit of nappy rash occasionally, I am always on the look out for products which aim to relieve babies of toddlers of these symptoms, so I was really pleased when I was offered the chance to try out this range.

I hadn't heard of the brand before seeing these products, but it was formulated over 50 years ago by a father and independent pharmacist, Basil Bennett, who became famous for his baby care products. With his specialist knowledge he created a set of products for babies which help treat dry skin, eczema and prevent and heal nappy rash.

Bennetts for Babies do quite a wide range of products, including baby wipes, nappy cream, soap, sunblock and nipple cream for mums too. Here are a few of the products we have been trying...

The Bum Buddy traveller (£4.99 or ASDA for £3.00) is a great little disposable pouch which contains 24 wipes and a little squeezy 40g pack of the baby bum creme. It's really convenient for taking in a change bag, and it's useful having that pouch of nappy cream and so much more convenient than having to carry a big pot of nappy cream around with you all the time. This pack would also be really handy to keep in the car and is designed to make 'on-the-go' changing much easier for mums and dads. The wipes are made with purified water and are nice and moist. The cream smells really lovely- like lavender, and I found it treated nappy rash really effectively. In terms of value for money, I do think they are expensive for 24 wipes, but it is really convenient having the bum creme attached to the pack.

We were also sent a pot of the Baby Aqueous cream (£3.99) which comes in a large pot. We opted for the fragrance free version, but you can also get a fragranced one. The lids are colour coded which is handy too. The texture is quite light and fluffy and is easily absorbed into the skin, which is something I always look for in a body cream. The cream leaves LO's skin feeling soft and silky, and it doesn't get that horrid sticky feeling. You can also add a dollop of the cream to the bath or use it to wash baby's skin with.

We also tried the Aqueous Bath Drops (£3.99). Totally fragrance free,  these bath additive drops are perfect for dry or sensitive skin and leave it feeling moisturised. Although it doesn't make bubbles, it does also cleanse the skin. You can also apply the oil directly onto the skin after a bath or use it as a baby massage oil. One thing I did find was that it left the bath quite oily afterwards and I needed to wipe down the sides of the bath to get rid of the oily residue it had left.

If you haven't already tried these products, I'd definitely recommend giving them a go, especially if your little ones do get dry skin or have eczema. For me, it's reassuring to know they have been specially formulated by a pharmacist and that it has a strong reputation for being a brand parents can trust. The Bennetts range of products are available at Morrisons, Asda, Superdrug, Ocado and Amazon, as well as some independent pharmacies.

NB: I was kindly sent these products to try out for the purposes of this review. As always, all opinions expressed are 100% honest.
