So I'm now into the final stretch- the last 10 or so weeks. It's been a bit of a quiet week here after a manic couple of weeks full of appointments, but this past week has been nice and chilled out. I do feel really huge and struggle most when I am sitting on the floor playing with LO. I can't get comfy and then struggle to get back up again. Even sitting down on a chair gets uncomfy, and I am trying hard to think about my posture, particularly in the evenings when I so often slouch on the sofa watching TV. The midwife said this is a big no no and I need to train myself to sit upright, or sit backwards on a chair when watching TV to encourage baby to get into the correct position ready to be born. Easier said than done when you're exhausted and just want to curl up in a blanket in front of the TV in the evenings.
After a few weeks of feeling a bit more energised, tiredness has crept back and I sometimes crave an afternoon nap. Since the clock change, I have also been wanting to go to bed earlier as well but some nights I am so restless I find it so hard to get to sleep. My biggest symptom at the moment is super itchy skin. It's so uncomfortable sometimes, and I just have to slather on bio-oil or a rich moisturiser to get relief from it, particularly in the middle of the night. I just really hope my skin manages to repair itself after baby is born...
I haven't been craving anything as such recently, but I have had a very strong nesting instinct. I keep rearranging the cupboards, sorting out boxes of things and generally wanting to tidy and clean all day. I enjoy doing this at the best of times, but even on my birthday, all I wanted to do was tidy the house which I think wound Mr F right up, with him telling me to sit down and relax every 5 minutes! We have also made a little bit of a start on the nursery which is exciting. We went to Mothercare to buy a new moses basket mattress but they were too big for our Mamas and Papas one. We may opt for a swinging crib instead as we found the moses basket was a bit saggy and not very supportive. We have also planned out what else we need to buy and how much money we are going to have to spend- it's frightening when you add it all up! The carpet in the attic room has been taken up and we are going to be starting painting this week, which is very exciting!
How far along? 31 weeks + 4 days
Weight: Back to 10 stone
Maternity clothes? At home I'm wearing jogging bottoms and out and about I'm favouring leggings, but I need to find a few bigger tops to go with them
Stretch marks? Yes, and my skin looks really shiny now. It's so so itchy!!
Sleep: A little better although heartburn and itchy belly still wakes me up
Best moment this week: My 30th birthday- we went out for a lovely treat of afternoon tea at Betty's in Ilkley and it was just what I needed
Miss anything? My Zara jeans which no longer fit
Food cravings: Not really although I got a Hinari Genie for my birthday (it's like a Nutri Bullet) and I can't wait to start making more healthy smoothies as I feel lacking in nutrients
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing at the moment.
Labour signs: Not yet hopefully
Symptoms: Itchy skin and my muscles aching terribly
Belly button in or out? Out, but less so now my skin is stretching more
Wedding rings on or off: On.
Happy or moody: Mostly happy!
Looking forward to: Decorating the nursery and choosing the carpet
