I am currently 33 weeks and 3 days and goodness, am I feeling it! I really feel quite huge and just doing simple things like getting up off the sofa or out of bed seem so difficult. I can still just about get my socks on myself but Mr F or LO often help me with my shoes! LO loves going to find my shoes for me, and just loves being mummy's little helper in general. He really seems to understand when I'm not feeling well and this week has definitely been one of those weeks...
Mr F and LO were both ill a few weeks ago and I was so surprised I hadn't caught anything. I totally cursed it and then got ill last week with a throat infection and cold. Normally I'd cope alright with a cold, but throat infections, being pregnant and having an energetic toddler to run around after really don't mix. It's totally knocked me for six and even though I can't, there are days when I'd really just like to hibernate under a duvet. Still, I'll probably have this for 2 weeks and then it'll be gone as quickly as it came hopefully. I'm just thankful to have cold now and not when it's my due date. I can't even imagine feeling ill when in labour.
Aside from feeling run down with this throat infection other symptoms this week have included feeling quite low down pressure and terrible aches at the top of my legs in my groin muscles. It almost feels as I've been running and haven't stretched properly. I got out of bed to go to the toilet in the night (another symptom this week!) and my legs just didn't want to work so I crawled up to the next floor to go to the toilet...! Not very graceful.
This morning, I suddenly thought I'd better check my maternity notes as I remember having a midwife appointment at about 33/34 weeks with LO but didn't have anything in the calendar. Needless to say, when I checked, my appointment was today and I checked with just enough time to drive up to the doctors surgery. I saw my new midwife who has replaced my last one who retired. She is new to midwifery so had a more senior midwife with her today. She seems lovely and was really thorough with her checks. They measured my bump and were shocked when they thought I was measuring at 37 weeks! They double checked and I am actually measuring at 35 weeks, so still a bit big, but at least not 37! I then had the other regular checks, listened to baby's little heartbeat and had blood tests again. I really hate having them and I never remember which appointments you have one at, but I've got so much better with having them.
This morning I also took LO shopping to find a Christmas outfit for his NCT Christmas party and while we were in the new H & M in the swish new shopping centre in our city, I spotted they had a maternity section! Stop the press! Yes, an actual maternity section in a shop! They had a fantastic choice of maternity skinny jeans and I actually let out a little cheer of joy when I found a lovely pair which fitted beautifully and were comfy too. And even though I am not going to be pregnant for that many weeks now, they still look great as normal jeans too.
How far along? 33 weeks + 3 days
Weight: Put on another 2 lbs this week. Now 10 stone 6
Maternity clothes? Until today I'd been wearing black leggings all week, but have now got some comfy H&M maternity skinny jeans
Stretch marks? Oh yes, unfortunately
Sleep: I have felt so tired but need 2 paracetamol to soothe my throat before I go to bed otherwise I cannot sleep. Also toilet trips are waking me up
Best moment this week: Getting all LO's baby clothes washed. Now to iron them all!
Miss anything? I really craved a Gin & Tonic the other night, but that'll just have to wait!
Food cravings: I wish I liked fruit but I really don't. This cold is making me think I should have some healthy smoothies though. It's still all about the 10pm cereal date for me.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing this week
Labour signs: Not really, but I've had what I think is lightening pains. Midwife said baby's head is down now.
Symptoms: Lightening, groin pain.
Belly button in or out? Out, but less so now my skin is stretching more
Wedding rings on or off: On.
Happy or moody: Unwell- which is making me feel miserable and very drained
Looking forward to: Painting the nursery in the next two weeks.
