It's Wednesday 13th January and I am finally getting around to being able to do a long overdue blog post. It's been a little quiet here on my blog but I definitely have a good reason for that... Yesterday marked our newest addition turning 1 week old and so we have spent the past 7 days recovering, getting to know our gorgeous new baby and generally adjusting to life as a four. We have had lots of sleepless nights, cosy midnight milk cuddles and a fair bit of crying (not just from our new little bundle...) but after a week, I really feel like we are settling into this and we are all finally feeling a bit more normal.
If you read my blog regularly, you will know I have religiously posted weekly bump updates throughout this pregnancy. I know sometimes bump updates can read as a little monotonous, with symptoms not changing much from week to week, but it is something I really wanted to do. I wanted to document all those subtle changes, as well as the more major milestones such as scans and first kicks. I have totally surprised myself that I stuck at it as it can be very time consuming and difficult to remember to take a shot every week (I got every week bar 2 I think). But more than anything, it's the photos showing how the little bump grew bigger and stronger each week, with my final photo being taken when baby Luca is 5 days old.
I love that I have these photos as a memory of this pregnancy. Luca really was an exceptionally good baby to his mummy when he was in my tummy and I feel like I sailed through it. It went by so quickly and bar some bad heartburn and itchy skin, and for that I am so thankful.
I will be doing some posts over the next couple of weeks about his birth story and a few updates too, but for now, we are just loving life with our gorgeous baby boy and LO. I look back at these pictures and then down to my left where Luca is sleeping so soundly in his bouncer and feel such amazement that I grew this tiny precious baby and feel so utterly blessed.
