Review and Giveaway: The Beatrix Potter DVD Collection
With Easter just around the corner now, I am thinking of things to buy to put in LO and Little L's Easter baskets. As I did at Christmas for LO, I want to get a few little gifts together for them to open at Easter weekend. Inevitably, LO will get a chocolate treat of some sort, but I am always on the look out for something a bit special too. 2016 marks 150 years since the birth of Beatrix Potter, one of the world's best-loved children's authors and this week (March 7th), the Beatrix Potter DVD collection has been released. I think it would make a perfect, non-chocolate related Easter gift.
I absolutely loved reading my classic Peter Rabbit books as a child, all of which I have kept to hand down to LO and Little L. Although the books are currently a bit advanced for LO, I hope that by introducing him to the classic stories and well-loved characters on DVD first, it will fire up an interest in the books for him. The animations on the DVDs are beautiful and as they are based on the original editions of the books, are very traditional looking, which makes a refreshing change from the normal modern animations on a lot of modern day cartoons.
The DVD boxset is beautifully presented and includes 9 animated stories, all based on the original Peter Rabbit books. Because of the traditional animations, I wasn't sure if at 2 and a half, LO would enjoy the DVDs, but he sat mesmerised watching them very happily and keeps asking me to put another episode on for him before bedtime. I am so pleased he is enjoying watching them and I can't wait for him to be able to read the stories with him now that he is familiar with the characters. We have been really enjoying watching these curled up together on the sofa on a rainy afternoon and if Easter weekend is another rainy one, I know already what we will be watching!
The triple DVD boxset features 9 episodes, spread over 3 DVDs:
The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends:
The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny, The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies and Mrs Tittlemouse,
The Tale of Tom Kitten an Jemima Puddle-Duck
The Tale of Pigling Bland and Other Stories:
The Tale of Pigling Bland, The Tale of Samuel Whiskers or The Roly-Poly Pudding, The Tailor of Gloucester
The Tale of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle and Mr Jeremy Fisher:
The Tale of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle and Mr Jeremy Fisher, The Tale of Mr Tod: The Further Adventures of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny, The Tale of Two Bad Mice and Johnny Town-Mouse
The DVD collection is available from all good retailers and the RRP is £9.99, however, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter, I have one set of the Beatrix Potter DVD collection to give away to one lucky reader. It would make the perfect Easter gift! For your chance to win, please complete the Rafflecopter below. Terms and Conditions apply. UK entrants only please. Giveaway ends 16th March 2016.
