Now we are in June, I thought I'd do a little round up of our plans for our summer 2016. It's already set to be a busy one for us, with LO's 3rd birthday, a trip to London for Britmums, a long weekend to Bristol and of course our first holiday abroad since becoming a family of four and family ambassadors for Mark Warner. Of course in and amongst the big exciting holiday and enjoyable weekends away there will be plenty of more ordinary summer days spent locally, but which we are also really looking forward to.
A Girly Weekend to London for Britmums
At the end of this month, I will be heading down from Yorkshire to London to attend the annual Britmums conference. Last year I attended my first blogging conference (Blogtacular) but haven't been to anything since, and as yet haven't attended Britmums. Having seen everyone's posts on Social Media during and after the event last year I thought it looked so fantastic so thought I'd book myself an early bird ticket to attend this year. I am so excited yet also incredibly nervous but I am really looking forward to learning so much about blogging, feeling inspired and meeting lots of other bloggers, some of whom I have really enjoyed chatting to lately and I'm thoroughly looking forward to meeting or catching up with. I am bringing Little L with me as I am breastfeeding him but I think there are a few other bloggers who are taking their babies too, so there'll be a nice little group of blog babies there. My youngest sister is also coming down with me and we will be staying at the Double Tree by Hilton at Docklands Riverside near Canary Wharf. While we are there, we'll also be catching up with my middle sister and brother so we'll have a really nice time together I'm sure.
Little One's 3rd Birthday
I cannot believe LO will be turning 3 at the end of July. In many ways I can't believe where the last 3 years have gone yet it also feels like he's always been around and I can't remember life before he was here now. This year we are planning on having a 'proper' birthday party for him with his little friends- (the first one he's had where he won't be the only child there), as well as family and other close family friends. I was inspired earlier today by a fantastic beach party display at our local garden centre and so I think we might throw him a tropical beach themed summer garden party. I'm sure we will also go on a day trip sometime around his birthday too possibly to Sundown Adventureland where we went for his 2nd Birthday.
Our Family Holiday with Mark Warner
We were so over the moon to discover back in February that we were selected to be Mark Warnerfamily ambassadors for 2016. A couple of months ago we got to choose where we wanted to go and after lots of browsing of gorgeous photos, reading others' blog posts and reading about the various resorts we opted for Levante Beach in Rhodes, Greece. We chose Levante Beach because we know a lot of our family have been to Rhodes before and have loved it, the beach and pools looked beautiful and I've heard fantastic things about the resort from reading other blog posts like Alex's and Katie's.
We are heading there in early September once the schools have gone back (this is our final chance to go on holiday during school term time before LO starts school in 2017!). I am just so so excited for our first holiday as family of four and can't wait to expericne all that Mark Warner Holidays has to offer. It looks like such a friendly family oriented resort.
In early August we are hopefully going to go on a long weekend trip down to Bristol. It's quite a distance for us to drive with a toddler and a baby, but as Mr F's sister and brother in law live there, we really want to make a trip down to spend a few sunny days with them and explore the area. We have been before when LO was younger, but can't wait to go during the warmer summer months. The city of Bristol itself has lots to explore with young children and I'm sure we will enjoy a day out at the seaside at Weston super Mare, complete with fish and chips, plenty of ice cream and a bucket and spade. It's what beach days in the UK are all about after all!
Enjoying our Local Area
While we aren't any closer to selling our house, we feel we should make the most of the area we live in as there is lots to do in and around North and West Yorkshire. We are really eager to get going with our house move but we know now we won't be moving anytime soon so we want to enjoy places near us while we can. I know we will enjoy lots of sunny evening walks around our village, picnics in the park, trips to our favourite local playground and to other favourite places like Roundhay Park and Leeds Botanical Gardens where we took our recent Me & Mine photos.
Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire
We love our little traditions and one of them is our annual trip to Bolton Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales around the time of LO's birthday. We spent his first birthday there and then went last year too. It's such a beautiful location, we sit and have a picnic by the river, and then play hide and seek in the abbey ruins which LO loves. We then make a stop by at Billy Bob's Ice Cream Parlour for a cheeky ice cream or milkshake. I can't wait to go back again with both boys.
So that's a round up of our plans for summer 2016. I really can't wait for all these things now, and to be able to capture and document our memories together as a family of four.
