{Me and Mine}- A Family Portrait Project 17- January

As I write this post, it's very late on a Monday evening and I have to keep checking the date as I cannot believe we are already one month in to 2017. I'm still going around saying 'happy new year' as if we are still in the first week of January. The month has been really busy though so it's no surprise it's just passed me by. After seeing in the new year, which we spent here in our new home, we celebrated our baby boy's 1st birthday just a few days later on January 5th. I just cannot believe he's 1 already- the past 12 months have flown by and I am longing for time to slow down a little so I can take it all in. It felt bizarre having birthday celebrations so soon after Christmas and we even still had the Christmas trees up (I think we will make it a tradition to always take them down the day after his birthday on January 6th). I do feel bad that we didn't really make any exciting plans for his birthday but we did have a lovely quiet day at home with some of my family.

Two days after L's birthday we set off to fly to the French Alps for our first ski holiday as a family. We went for a week to Tignes with Mark Warner Holidays, and it really was the most incredible experience. We had such an amazing week and having never skied before, I was quite apprehensive about the whole thing, but once we were there we just had the best time out there with the boys. I am so utterly grateful that we have had the chance to be Mark Warner ambassadors for the year and I will never take these amazing experiences we have had for granted. I've just been looking through some of my photos and the video I made of our week in Tignes and I just want to be back there again, surrounded by snow, sipping on hot chocolates and mulled wine, taking the boys out sledging and skiing down soft snowy pistes. Mr F warned me that I'd become hooked and I never believed him, but I think we might just need to book our next trip...

Anyway, I'll be documenting our ski trip over a few posts over the next week or so. But for now, here's a couple of photos which we took on one of our sledging afternoons with the boys. The snow in Tignes was really extreme when we were there, and the temperatures were so cold I really found it hard to take photos, not to mention finding suitable places to prop my camera without it falling into the snow. I do love these photos of the four of us though and they'll always remind me of that crisp, cold snowy Wednesday afternoon in Tignes, the endless giggles from the boys as they rode through the snow on their sledges and the sun beating down on our frozen noses.

This month, I have been loving:
*Learning to ski
*The snow in Tignes
*Vin chaud
*Spending time with LO on Thursday afternoons
*Cold morning walks around our village
*Watching Homeland

LO has been loving:
*The snow in Tignes
*Going sledging
*Playing Post Offices and shops
*Going to playgroup
*Spending

Little L has been loving:
*Going on his first sledge ride
*Fruit- he's obsessed with kiwi, satsumas and grapes!
*Playing with books
*Reading Fox's Socks
*Cruising around furniture and walking holding just one hand

Mr F has been loving:
*Skiing again
*Having a week away in Tignes
*Watching Homeland

    1. Aw thanks so much Alex. The views in Tignes were amazing- very different to some ski resorts as it's above the tree line so there's no trees anywhere. It's a lovely town too x

  9. Haha, I'm with you there. I'm still asking people if they had a good Christmas like it was last week or something. Gorgeous pics of you in the Alps! I can't wait for our trip in a couple of weeks time - I've never been to Tignes but it's definitely on my list of places to ski! x

    1. I know, I'm so behind the times! I'm still even writing 2016 not 2017. Tignes is great- a real challenge as like in Val D'Isere, a green run is more like a blue run, but it makes it all the more fun to learn! x
