As I sit here writing this, I cannot believe we are at the end of another month. I know February is a slightly shorter month but I really can't fathom where the past 4 weeks have vanished to. I always find February to be a bit of a strange 'meh' sort of month anyway, one where not a huge amount happens, the weather is normally awful and where you just long for winter to be over. We are all so ready for spring to arrive and for this reason, when we spotted these beautiful yellow and purple crocuses springing up in the castle grounds we were visiting last weekend, we just had to get a couple of family photos with them as they really did make us all fee so much more cheery on a rainy bleak February morning. They just give a little glimpse that spring is just around the corner now and I cannot wait for it to arrive. This year more than any other in fact. I am just so excited to see what our new garden looks like in spring, and to enjoy days in the garden with the boys and wearing brighter more colourful clothes. I'll truly be glad to see the back of our bobble hats and winter coats.
Although February in general was a bit 'meh' we did have a really great in the middle of the month when my siblings and their other halves all came to stay for a few days. It was totally crazy having all of us together, but I am really glad that now we have moved we can manage to host more people. It really does make the whole mega house move seem so worthwhile and I find it's so much nicer being able to have that extended quality time with family, even if we can't see them that regularly. I wrote all about our weekend in Lincoln and that really was the highlight of the month for us. Bar that, we haven't done much else (such a rock and roll lifestyle we lead) but we have enjoyed lots of lazy days and cosy evenings at home. This has probably felt the most normal month since we moved in November, and I really feel that we have established some sense of routine to our daily lives this month. And while it may not be the most exciting of lives we lead, we love our family life we are all such creatures of habit and thrive on our little daily routines, with the odd little family adventure thrown in for good measure and there's no one I'd rather be spending these most ordinary, (if sometimes boring) moments with than these three.
These are some of the most rushed Me and Mine photos we have ever taken I think. It was not going in my favour this particular day either photo-wise. It was tipping it down with rain, I'd carefully propped my camera on the hood of the pram, then a willing passer by offered to take the photos for me. Unfortunately they came out totally out of focus. So I set the whole thing up again, for a little boy to then run in front of the camera just as the timer had gone off. Third attempt, a gust of wind blew the pram (and camera) away just as the timer went off! Shame it didn't capture our reaction as we were all in hysterics. Family portraits definitely aren't as eacy to capture as they sometimes look... I'm sure many will agree ;)
