Stars & Planets Science Kit
I love finding unique gifts and I think this Stars & Planets Science Kit would make a perfect present for an inquisitive 5 year old. We are always on the look out for fun things to do at home after school or at the weekend and this kit would provide hours of fun. It contains 11 experiments and children can discover things like why plants don't grow on other planets, the physics of how a rocket launches into space and why there is day and night.
Where's Wally Gift Set
LO is obsessed with Where's Wally at the moment and loves to sit in bed with one of his books searching around for Wally and all the various objects. We've got the full collection of books but we also have this little tin with smaller versions of the first three as well, and I think they'd make a perfect gift for a friend at school.
Wooden Toy Cars
Both my boys love playing with toy cars, and these Montecarlo sports cars by Le Toy Van are the latest cars in their collection. They're made of wood and the details on them are lovely- they sit on display in LO's room when they're not playing with them, and we never eave the house without a car or two to play with.
Illuminated Solar System
We love this Illuminated Solar System from Find Me a Gift. It features a nightlight (the sun) which fixes to the ceiling, and around it orbit the planets on wires. It's battery operated with a remote control (it also has a self-timer so you don't have to worry about switching it off). It makes the perfect nightlight and the gentle movement of the planets helps LO to fall asleep too. We've fixed this above his bed and him and Little L love laying there looking up at the different planets.
Illuminated Globe
We absolutely love this illuminated globe, and it's one of LO's favourite things to play with. He will sit and spin it around, asking all sorts of interesting questions about the world and about where different countries are. He loves to sit in bed reading his Ant and Bee Around the World Book with his globe beside him, and he will find each country they visit as they go on their travels around the world. I remember being equally fascinated by globes and maps when I was little, and I think this is definitely a gift which is a little bit unique and also will last a long time. It even lights up to show the constellations in the dark.
Lego Sets
I couldn't do a roundup post about gifts without mentioning Lego. LO absolutely loves his Lego and loves nothing more than to receive a little box for him to sit and build with us. It's an easy win and perfect for if you haven't got much time to find a gift. Most of the supermarkets sell Lego sets and there are generally quite good offers on too.
I hope you enjoyed my roundup of gift ideas for 5-7 year olds. I'd love to know if you have any ideas for what you find your children enjoy playing with, or any ideas for birthday presents.
*I was kindly gifted some of these items. As always, all words and opinions are my own.
My eldest will be 5 next month. I have no idea what to get her. That globe looks great. #sharingthebloglove

DeleteI love the illuminated globe - I've been after one for my son but it's difficult to judge the quality just looking online. He's turning 4, but I think he'd love lots of these presents too - he's a little scientist in the making, so the planets stuff is right up his street, as are the toy cars. Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
