Creating an Inspiring Home Office with Desenio

One room in our house that I've been chipping away at in terms of updating the style and decor is our home office. It's the smallest of our five bedrooms and even though it is big enough to be a toddler room, when we moved in we decided to give our youngest a big room he could grow into and play in and use this smaller space as an office. With me doing blog work and Mr F working from home usually one day a week, it's been a real treat to have a dedicated work space, but while he has been good at using it, I always found it to be a dull and uninspiring space, with its yellow walls and pine woodwork and as such, I always opted to go and sit elsewhere in the house, and so rarely used it.

A year or so ago we got around to painting the whole room white, as well as buying a new desk along with a few other bits of office furniture, but it still felt a little stark and uninspiring. I'd already done the hard job of decorating, so it was a case of adding in some finishing touches, and I did this with the use of plants, prints and a few little trinkets.

I've seen a few people on social media feature beautiful prints from Desenio around their homes so I had a browse of their website to pick out a few prints and frames to sit on our new Ikea picture ledges. This is a great way to display artwork, prints or photos as you can move them around and switch up your display easily.

Desenio have a great range of different styles of prints, from abstract artwork, to botanical posters, to photos, to metallic leaf prints as well as quotes too. The prints I chose complement each other nicely and whilst I haven't gone for a set theme, there are little links between some of the prints such as the Wanderlust poster and this beautiful copper leaf world map. As a family we love to travel and so I knew I had to pick these as soon as I saw them.

I've got quite a few houseplants in my office as I love the fresh green against the white walls, and I've echoed this in this palm leaves pattern poster. One of my favourite prints though is the pink Flamingo Aquarelle poster, which even matches my little set of cactus, pineapple and flamingo fairy lights which I've strung across one shelf. As well as the colourful artwork, I've interspersed a few simple black and white posters with motivational words or quotes on. Isn't this 'Breathe' one just so simplistically beautiful?

With the white walls and furniture, I decided to add in some blush pink, copper and grey accessories, as well as the green from the plants. I love how the copper leaf world map ties in with the copper accessories.

The perfect place to display a few little trinkets and photos.

I am an incredibly anxious person and lately I've found reading motivational quotes really helps calm my anxiety and focus my mind. I love the positivity of the quotes I've chosen and 'Live More Worry Less' as well as 'Change Your Thoughts and You'll Change Your World' are two I'm trying to live by at the moment.

I absolutely love this new office space and I think the new colour palette, accessories and Desenio prints have made such a difference in transforming what was just an uninspiring space. Thank you Desenio for helping me to create such an inspiring place to sit and work in.

If you would like to order some prints of your own, Desenio are very kindly offering my readers 25% off posters* (*except for handpicked-/collaboration posters and frames) using the code "ohlittleonesweet" between Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th April.

There are so many different styles of posters and prints to choose from. Please do tag me on Instagram if you share a photo of them, I'd love to see them!

  1. What a lovely space Amelia — I love all your little touches of rose gold and copper. Funnily enough, I've got those Primark shelves in our kitchen, but I pulled the wire backs off!!

I keep meaning to go and check out Desensio. We haven't got any pictures on our bedroom wall, after redecorating last year, and I really want to rectify that!! I didn't want to rush into choosing something but, almost a full year on, the walls are looking so bare!!

Thanks so much for sharing on #HomeEtc
