Adding character to our home {ft. Posterlounge}

It's been nearly two years since we moved into our house now, and gradually we are working our way around the house, updating it, decorating it and renovating it as and when we can. I'm quite good at the getting the initial big jobs such as painting sorted, and although I love seeing a home project come together, I always seem to take a little longer to decide on things like finishing touches; the bits and bobs which make a room feel complete. When I got the chance to have a look at the artwork and poster collections Posterlounge had, two rooms in the house came to mind straight away- the kitchen and Little L's bedroom.

If you're not familiar with Posterlounge, they are a German based company with a mission to bring a splash of colour into your home with their amazing collection of wall art and prints. They have a wide selection of artists' work available as prints and with lots of styles of frames and materials to choose from.

We got Little L's room decorated over a year ago, and went for white walls and white woodwork. It looked lovely and fresh but it lacked personality and was in need of something to finish off the look of the room. Having recently made the switch from cot to toddler bed, we thought it would be a good time to get the room finished off. I loved the idea of either an alphabet print or a world map, so when I spotted that Posterlounge do a watercolour style world map on wood I knew it was the perfect piece to hang above his little bed.

 The map and wording is printed onto a wooden board. I ordered t not really knowing what to expect, but I was blown away by the style and quality as soon as I opened it. It arrived in really safe, secure packaging and was really easy to mount onto the wall. The style goes so well in Little L's room and matches the decor perfectly. It's really finished off that corner of the room so well.

The kitchen is one room in the house we haven't needed to do anything to, which has been bliss! It's a cream gloss kitchen with sage green metro tiles, and while it's a beautiful modern kitchen, it always felt like it could do with a little character. The Posterlounge website is really easy to navigate and I love how you can search for inspiration room by room. I looked up 'kitchen' and looked for typography type prints. There are so many styles to choose from, including Scandinavian, modern, vintage and rustic. I decided on these French inspired prints- Un croissant s'il vice plait and Bon appetit.

When you select your prints, you can customise the look with a choice of frames. I opted for these black frames to contrast with the light walls and kitchen units. I'd never considered putting prints in the kitchen before, but they look great and make an otherwise empty space look complete.

If you're looking for some affordable, stylish artwork for your home, I can really recommend having a look at Posterlounge.
